The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fabrício Sergipano charged in rather forcefully in the 19th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Fabrício Sergipano the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Matadores FC booed when Umbrella Corporation was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fabrício Sergipano didn't get a good kick on the ball. Kauã Sarmento made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fabinho Pitta in the 21st minute of play. Kauã Sarmento stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Fabinho Pitta's shot from short distance in the 23rd minute. Umbrella Corporation's Eduardo Toledo suffered a sprained foot after 23 minutes and couldn't finish the game. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Davi Meireles during the 23rd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Faustão Saldanha in the 29th minute of play forced Umbrella Corporation's goalkeeper Sebastião Barbosa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Matadores FC's Faustão Saldanha slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Sebastião Barbosa. That made the score 1-0 after 35 minutes of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Davi Meireles got free with Sebastião Barbosa in the 37th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Kauã Sarmento took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fabinho Pitta, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Matadores FC's zone, Joélson Senna stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kauã Sarmento came out of the goal and Joélson Senna tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Kauã Sarmento showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fabinho Pitta in the 43rd minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 45th minute, Fabinho Pitta managed to get in a good position for a shot. Umbrella Corporation's supporters rose to their feet, but Fabinho Pitta was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kauã Sarmento breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
