With a couple of smart ball manuevers Danila Kolobov in the 13th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Josue Ayala saved Феникс Санкт-Петербург from getting behind. A collision led to Voskresensk FC getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Denis Gusakovskiy hit a great ball. Voskresensk FC's Mikhail Bannikov played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leonid Petrov in the 15th minute of play. Mikhail Bannikov took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leonid Petrov, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Mikhail Bannikov made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leonid Petrov in the 19th minute of play. Mikhail Bannikov showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Leonid Petrov, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. Leonid Petrov took the ball and in the 22 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Mikhail Bannikov. Mikhail Bannikov dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. 25 minutes into the game, Leonid Petrov cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-3. Mikhail Bannikov was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 29 minutes into the match, Феникс Санкт-Петербург's goalkeeper Josue Ayala had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Aleksandr Burov. Феникс Санкт-Петербург's Josue Ayala proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 31st minute of the match, managed to save Феникс Санкт-Петербург from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leonid Petrov in the 38th minute of play forced Voskresensk FC's goalkeeper Mikhail Bannikov to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Andrey Arshavin hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. Leonid Petrov scored 1-4 in the 43rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Mikhail Bannikov, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Mikhail Bannikov showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Leonid Petrov in the 46th minute of the match. After the first half Феникс Санкт-Петербург were leading 1-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Leonid Petrov to strike the kick off in the second half. Leonid Petrov could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 53rd minute of the match, but Mikhail Bannikov made a huge save. After some fancy dribbling in the 56th minute, Leonid Petrov managed to get in a good position for a shot. Феникс Санкт-Петербург's supporters rose to their feet, but Leonid Petrov was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mikhail Bannikov breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 66 minutes in the game, Liu Jie fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Mikhail Bannikov having to interfere. In the 70th minute, Leonid Petrov left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Феникс Санкт-Петербург fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-6. Liu Jie's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Mikhail Bannikov read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 79th minute of play. 81 minutes into the match, Leonid Petrov had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Mikhail Bannikov. Voskresensk FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Leonid Petrov was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-7. The crowd rose to their feet as Феникс Санкт-Петербург's Liu Jie slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Mikhail Bannikov. That made the score 1-8 after 84 minutes of play. When the match was over Феникс Санкт-Петербург could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Voskresensk FC throughout the match.
