An unexpectedly hard shot by Ferit Port in the 10th minute of play forced Fc Schönhagen's goalkeeper Jesper Bohnacker to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Eckart Wojewski showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tobias Holzwart, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. 14 minutes into the match, Vorwärts Lübeck's goalkeeper Eckart Wojewski had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Fredi Pahlke. In the 15th minute Ramachandran Papacharalabous shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jesper Bohnacker saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 16th minute, Ramachandran Papacharalabous managed to get in a good position for a shot. Vorwärts Lübeck's supporters rose to their feet, but Ramachandran Papacharalabous was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jesper Bohnacker breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 19th minute, Theodor Spankowski hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thaddäus Hänsch scored 0-1 in the 21st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jesper Bohnacker, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Alf Spinrath kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. Mike Iggelheimer charged in rather forcefully in the 25th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Mike Iggelheimer the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 25 played minutes Fc Schönhagen got a freekick which was hit by Mike Iggelheimer. After a defensive mix-up in Fc Schönhagen's zone, Thaddäus Hänsch stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jesper Bohnacker came out of the goal and Thaddäus Hänsch tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Sigi Verschüren hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. In the 33rd minute, Sigi Verschüren hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Vorwärts Lübeck booed when Fc Schönhagen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jupp Schultheiss didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ronald Zöllmer's late challenge caught a Fc Schönhagen's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ronald Zöllmer helped the player get up and apologised. In the 44th minute, Ronald Zöllmer hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After the first half Vorwärts Lübeck were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ramachandran Papacharalabous was the one to do the kick off. After 54 played minutes Fc Schönhagen got a freekick which was hit by Fredi Pahlke. 62 minutes into the game, Ramachandran Papacharalabous was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Vorwärts Lübeck's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Fc Schönhagen the free kick. In the 62nd match minute, Vorwärts Lübeck was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ramachandran Papacharalabous to maneuver through the defense. Eckart Wojewski made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alf Spinrath in the 63rd minute of play.
