After 40 minutes, Nelson Lockwood mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Nomads Football Club and the Cosmos Soccer Club players grew even worse after the yellow card. Russ Thorne's late challenge caught a Nomads Football Club's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Russ Thorne helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Cosmos Soccer Club's Russ Thorne got a free kick in the 49th minute. The Nomads Football Club players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Cosmos Soccer Club were winning 0-2.

The wind increased when Cyrus Crouch made the kick off in the second half. In the 55th minute, Cyrus Crouch left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. After 89 minutes of play, Nomads Football Club's Craig Hannah made it 1-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Bruce Nesbitt was left in no man's land by his defense there! Craig Hannah scored 2-4 in the 94th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Bruce Nesbitt, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After having played for 97 minutes, Douglass Tinsley managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Nomads Football Club's supporters crossed their fingers, but Douglass Tinsley was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Cosmos Soccer Club's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
