The supporters of Brufoss IL booed when Oslo City FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kristian Nordnes didn't get a good kick on the ball. 12 minutes into the match, Tor-Egil Arntsen had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of David Butt. Oslo City FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Tor-Egil Arntsen was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Olav Øverby showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Magnus Kulseth in the 18th minute of the match. Oslo City FC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Kristian Nordnes in the 19th minute. After 22 played minutes Oslo City FC got a freekick which was hit by Per-Kristian Lura. When Magnus Kulseth fell near the penalty area in the 27th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. Brufoss IL's Bastian Ytterstad got a good chance for a goal in the 31st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 33 played minutes Oslo City FC got a freekick which was hit by Verner Grønvik. Tor-Egil Arntsen came free with the goalkeeper in the 34th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and David Butt could save by the left post. Bendik Strande struck a weak shot in the 35th minute. David Butt didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Brufoss IL. 41 minutes into the game, Verner Grønvik cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Olav Øverby was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Olav Øverby showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Magnus Kulseth, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Asgeir Roald to make the kick off. Bastian Ytterstad recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 55th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. David Butt made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tor-Egil Arntsen in the 57th minute of play. Tor-Egil Arntsen took the ball and in the 58 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised David Butt. David Butt dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. 63 minutes into the match, Bendik Strande notched a goal, 3-1, to the right of Oslo City FC's David Butt. David Butt was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After having played for 68 minutes, Bendik Strande managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal.
