An unexpectedly hard shot by Cipriano Olivar in the 6th minute of play forced Estudiantes de América's goalkeeper Prospero Abadia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Hugo Txeru kicked well hit freekick during the 8th minute of the match. Ramiro Gagriel came out of the goal in the 11th minute to try and stop a shot by Estudiantes de América's Ildefonso Balesio. But to his dismay, Ildefonso Balesio quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Geronimo Domiku's late challenge caught a Estudiantes de América's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Geronimo Domiku helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Estudiantes de América booed when Machine Gun Kelly was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Geronimo Domiku didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 21st minute, Gustavo Bautista managed to get in a good position for a shot. Estudiantes de América's supporters rose to their feet, but Gustavo Bautista was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. After a rather tough play, Estudiantes de América's Eustacio Rito got a free kick in the 37th minute. 48 minutes into the match, Estudiantes de América's goal looked a bit too open when Cipriano Olivar came free, but Prospero Abadia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Machine Gun Kelly players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Estudiantes de América were winning 0-1.

Machine Gun Kelly's Teodoro Ishmael was substituted for Sixto Etxeberri. Machine Gun Kelly's Cayetano Ihintza was substituted for Cipriano Olivar. Evelio Pudes kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. Estudiantes de América's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
