The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a rather tough play, Velez Sarsfield's Rodolfo Flores got a free kick in the 3rd minute. In the 7th minute Anacleto Cisco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Uriel Raymon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 8 minutes into the game, Abelardo Ermengol was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Velez Sarsfield's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Copérnico F.C. the free kick. The supporters of Copérnico F.C. booed when Velez Sarsfield was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Abelardo Ermengol didn't get a good kick on the ball. Eloy Polentzi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sergio Caitano in the 14th minute of the match. The supporters of Copérnico F.C. booed when Velez Sarsfield was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aldo Isias didn't get a good kick on the ball. Eloy Polentzi didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Sergio Caitano went, in the 18th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. 22 minutes into the match, Copérnico F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Eusebio Procopio came free, but Eloy Polentzi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Velez Sarsfield's Eusebio Procopio in the 24th minute got a chance for a shot 24th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Copérnico F.C.'s goalie prevented a goal. Eloy Polentzi didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Sergio Caitano went, in the 28th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. Eloy Polentzi came out of the goal in the 34th minute to try and stop a shot by Velez Sarsfield's Sergio Caitano. But to his dismay, Sergio Caitano quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-4. An unexpectedly hard shot by Amadeo Florin in the 37th minute of play forced Velez Sarsfield's goalkeeper Uriel Raymon to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 40th minute, Anacleto Cisco reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Uriel Raymon. The goal made the score 1-4. In the 45th match minute, Copérnico F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arnoldo Sergi to maneuver through the defense. In the 46th minute of the match Genaro Argina shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Eloy Polentzi showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After the first half Velez Sarsfield were leading 1-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
Velez Sarsfield made a substitution. Braulio Pierres replaced Victorio Gilesindo. Velez Sarsfield's Sergio Caitano suffered a torn muscle in his foot after 55 minutes and couldn't finish the game. When Jose Semeno fell near the penalty area in the 55th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Copérnico F.C.'s protests and gave Jose Semeno a yellow card for diving instead. Velez Sarsfield's Luciano Raebert was substituted for Sergio Caitano. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 54th minute of the game. One of Copérnico F.C.:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Velez Sarsfield:s goal. Eloy Polentzi came out of the goal in the 57th minute to try and stop a shot by Velez Sarsfield's Luciano Raebert. But to his dismay, Luciano Raebert quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-5. Genaro Argina took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 60th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Eloy Polentzi. Copérnico F.C.'s goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After a rather tough play, Copérnico F.C.'s Sixto Ugaitz got a free kick in the 61st minute. 69 minutes into the game, Luciano Raebert recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Eloy Polentzi. Luciano Raebert showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-6. Uriel Raymon showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Amadeo Florin in the 73rd minute of the match. Uriel Raymon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arnoldo Sergi, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. Abelardo Ermengol hit a great freekick 77 minutes into the match. In the 78th minute, Amadeo Florin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 79 played minutes Copérnico F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Jorge Bernal. Copérnico F.C.'s Eloy Polentzi proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 81st minute of the match, managed to save Copérnico F.C. from getting a goal against them. 85 minutes into the match, Velez Sarsfield's goal looked a bit too open when Amadeo Florin came free, but Uriel Raymon reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Eloy Polentzi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luciano Raebert, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 87 minutes into the match, Anacleto Cisco had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Uriel Raymon. Velez Sarsfield's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Anacleto Cisco was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-6. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Luciano Raebert in the 95th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Eloy Polentzi saved Copérnico F.C. from getting behind. Eloy Polentzi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Braulio Pierres, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
