In the 5th match minute, Şamaxı Bankirlər was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Loğman Hacibabayev to maneuver through the defense. The Attard Gunners fans' excitement grew in the 6th match minute when Attard Gunners's Kurt Attard looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After a rather tough play, Attard Gunners's Anthony Salamone got a free kick in the 10th minute. Attard Gunners's defense didn't have a chance, in the 11th minute, when Näcäf Mäcidov scored to the left of an out of position Patrick Micallef, making the score, 1-1. Péter Čech stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Edward Ganado's shot from short distance in the 26th minute. Şamaxı Bankirlər's Péter Čech played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gilbert Borda in the 27th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Şamaxı Bankirlər's Loğman Hacibabayev got a free kick in the 31st minute. Patrick Micallef showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Qüdrät Ağamirzadä, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. A collision led to Attard Gunners getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Michael Fiott hit a great ball. In the 45th minute Qüdrät Ağamirzadä shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Patrick Micallef saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gilbert Borda stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. When Şahin Bäylärov fell near the penalty area in the 50th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Şamaxı Bankirlər's protests and gave Şahin Bäylärov a yellow card for diving instead. Şahin Bäylärov hit a great freekick 51 minutes into the match. Kurt Attard struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. Péter Čech didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Attard Gunners. After a rather tough play, Şamaxı Bankirlər's Abdulhämid Ibrahimli got a free kick in the 53rd minute. In the 55th play minute Kurt Attard came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Péter Čech. 1-2. After a defensive mix-up in Attard Gunners's zone, Qüdrät Ağamirzadä stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Patrick Micallef came out of the goal and Qüdrät Ağamirzadä tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Patrick Micallef made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aqil Bağiyev in the 62nd minute of play. In the 68th minute Gilbert Borda shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Péter Čech saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Şahin Bäylärov was shown his second yellow card after 72 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. In the 72nd minute, Şahin Bäylärov hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Péter Čech made an important save on a dangerous shot by Kurt Attard in the 78th minute. 80 minutes into the match, Şamaxı Bankirlər's goal looked a bit too open when Gilbert Borda came free, but Péter Čech reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 84 minutes into the match, Näcäf Mäcidov had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Patrick Micallef. Attard Gunners's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Näcäf Mäcidov was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
