The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 3 minutes into the game, Ton Mook recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Elbert Plescher. Ton Mook showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jonathan Verweijen got free with Elbert Plescher in the 7th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A collision led to Heineken Youths getting a freekick after 9 minutes play. Joop Boekholt hit a great ball. 12 minutes into the match, De Pelgrims's goal looked a bit too open when Ton Mook came free, but Elbert Plescher reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Fred Klasen kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Heineken Youths's Pim Ekelhoff got a free kick in the 15th minute. A collision led to Heineken Youths getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Joop Boekholt hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Heineken Youths's zone, Hendrik Adriaanse stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bastiaan Carel came out of the goal and Hendrik Adriaanse tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. De Pelgrims's Elbert Plescher proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 23rd minute of the match, managed to save De Pelgrims from getting a goal against them. After 31 minutes of play, De Pelgrims's Hendrik Adriaanse made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Bastiaan Carel was left in no man's land by his defense there! Elbert Plescher made a fantastic save in the 35th minute, when Jonathan Verweijen sent off a good shot on target. In the 42nd minute, Hendrik Adriaanse made a precise shot to the right of Bastiaan Carel. Heineken Youths's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Bastiaan Carel made a fantastic save in the 53rd minute, when Rien Drenth sent off a good shot on target. In the 54th minute Youri Mik shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Elbert Plescher saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. De Pelgrims's Elbert Plescher played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jonathan Verweijen in the 67th minute of play. Elbert Plescher made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pim Ekelhoff in the 69th minute of play. Elbert Plescher took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pim Ekelhoff, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
