With a little luck, Revenge's Elroy Schild got control of the ball when Wesley de Coninck tried to sneak it across the goal line. 38 minutes into the match, Wesley de Coninck had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Elroy Schild. Revenge's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Wesley de Coninck was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Elroy Schild made an important save on a dangerous shot by Wesley de Coninck in the 42nd minute. Rien Harding took the ball and in the 43 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Timo van Persie. Timo van Persie dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. In the 46th minute the ball was on its way in behind S.C. Potentia's goalkeeper Timo van Persie, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Elroy Schild made a fantastic save in the 48th minute, when Wesley de Coninck sent off a good shot on target. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Bart Brandsma made a kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Theo Alkema in the 53rd minute of play forced S.C. Potentia's goalkeeper Timo van Persie to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 55 minutes into the match, S.C. A collision led to Revenge getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Ramon Apotheker hit a great ball. Bart Kaptein might have been able to make a better finish in the 78th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Timo van Persie. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Bart Kaptein ran back to his position shaking his head. S.C. Potentia's Timo van Persie proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 79th minute of the match, managed to save S.C. Potentia from getting a goal against them. After 81 minutes of play, Revenge's Theo Alkema made it 1-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Timo van Persie was left in no man's land by his defense there! The supporters of Revenge booed when S.C. Potentia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fred Driel didn't get a good kick on the ball. Revenge's Dick Knuppel got a good chance for a goal in the 96th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Revenge eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
