After a rather tough play, Guayra FC's Fernandinho Fernandez got a free kick in the 8th minute. Frédson Rosa scored 2-0 in the 12th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Duarte Carneiro, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 20 minutes into the match, Guayra FC's goalkeeper Duarte Carneiro had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Frédson Rosa. 36 minutes into the match, Guayra FC's goal looked a bit too open when David Furtado came free, but Duarte Carneiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Frédson Rosa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by David Furtado in the 42nd minute of play forced Guayra FC's goalkeeper Duarte Carneiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Guayra FC's zone, Frédson Rosa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Duarte Carneiro came out of the goal and Frédson Rosa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

Régis Madureira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vânderson Marinho, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. 55 minutes into the game, Papunhas EC's Frédson Rosa nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Duarte Carneiro made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. If David Furtado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Régis Madureira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vânderson Marinho, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. In the 62nd minute Frédson Rosa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Duarte Carneiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 62 minutes into the game, Maicon Varela was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Guayra FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Papunhas EC the free kick. In the 63rd minute, Maicon Varela hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Guayra FC's zone, Frédson Rosa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Duarte Carneiro came out of the goal and Frédson Rosa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Régis Madureira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vânderson Marinho in the 68th minute of play. The supporters of Guayra FC booed when Papunhas EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Egídio Ferraz didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 70th minute of the match Hélio de Almeida sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Régis Madureira skillfully saved the ball. If Frédson Rosa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. A collision led to Guayra FC getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Adelino Prata hit a great ball. 77 minutes into the game, Vânderson Marinho recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Régis Madureira. Vânderson Marinho showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 3-1. When Frédson Rosa came up free with the goalie in the 85th minute, the Papunhas EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Frédson Rosa couldn't finish the play. After having played for 89 minutes, Frédson Rosa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Papunhas EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Frédson Rosa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Guayra FC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
