In the 3rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Futbol Club RRFV's goalkeeper Otávio Coutinho, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Otávio Coutinho made an important save on a dangerous shot by José Faria in the 5th minute. In the 6th minute Internacional were awarded a corner. Eriberto de Castro went to the cornerflag to take it. Otávio Coutinho made a fantastic save in the 8th minute, when Henrique de Amorim sent off a good shot on target. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Henrique de Amorim during the 9th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 9th minute, Henrique de Amorim hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Futbol Club RRFV's Hamílton Simão got a free kick in the 12th minute. With an all-out effort, Internacional's Otávio Coutinho threw himself towards the right post 14 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from José Faria, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. José Faria sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After some careless play in the Internacional defense, Carlos Alberto de Sousa kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ruy Correia. The Internacional fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ruy Correia should have stopped the shot. 24 minutes into the game, Jerônimo da Mata was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Internacional's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Futbol Club RRFV the free kick. After 24 played minutes Internacional got a freekick which was hit by Jerônimo da Mata. Dedê Freire kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. In the 30th match minute, Internacional was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Miguel Botelho to maneuver through the defense. Ruy Correia showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alexandre Sabóia in the 34th minute of the match. After 37 played minutes Futbol Club RRFV got a freekick which was hit by Hamílton Simão. In the 42nd match minute, Futbol Club RRFV was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hamílton Simão to maneuver through the defense. After the first half Futbol Club RRFV were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Carlos Alberto de Sousa to make the kick off. After 52 minutes of play, Futbol Club RRFV's Walmir Dracena made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ruy Correia was left in no man's land by his defense there! Otávio Coutinho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from José Faria, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Abel Melo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 65 minutes into the game, Carlos Alberto de Sousa recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Ruy Correia. Carlos Alberto de Sousa showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-3. Hamílton Simão's late challenge caught a Internacional's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Hamílton Simão helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Internacional booed when Futbol Club RRFV was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hamílton Simão didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 72 minutes of play, Futbol Club RRFV's Carlos Alberto de Sousa made it 0-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ruy Correia was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 77th minute José Faria shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Otávio Coutinho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 80 minutes into the match, Internacional's goal looked a bit too open when Alexandre Sabóia came free, but Ruy Correia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Evaristo Cruz got free with Ruy Correia in the 82nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 85 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Internacional! The goalkeeper, Ruy Correia, was totally fooled by Futbol Club RRFV's Alexsandro Barreto, who 87 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Otávio Coutinho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Miguel Botelho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ruy Correia showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alexandre Sabóia in the 97th minute of the match. Futbol Club RRFV's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
