The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. A collision led to AF CERRADO getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Severino Alcântara hit a great ball. Natanael Fernandez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lino Araújo having to interfere. After 18 minutes of play, Montevideo's Henrique Coelho made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Lino Araújo was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 21st minute Maicon Gonçalves shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ruy Loureiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 24 minutes into the game, Montevideo's Natanael Fernandez nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Lino Araújo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. 29 minutes into the game, Natanael Fernandez was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Montevideo's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave AF CERRADO the free kick. Henrique Coelho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 33rd minute, Montevideo's Jaime Reis seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Jaime Reis the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Montevideo protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Jaime Reis had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In the 34th match minute, Montevideo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jaime Reis to maneuver through the defense. In the 34th minute Edinho Meireles shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ruy Loureiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Natanael Fernandez struck a weak shot in the 37th minute. Lino Araújo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Montevideo. Tadeu Correia kicked well hit freekick during the 39th minute of the match. Tadeu Correia's late challenge caught a AF CERRADO's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Tadeu Correia helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Montevideo getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Tadeu Correia hit a great ball. Montevideo's Ruy Loureiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gil Velloso in the 46th minute of play. In the 48th minute, AF CERRADO's André Luiz da Rocha dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-2. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Tadeu Correia was the one to do the kick off. Tadeu Correia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lino Araújo having to interfere. Ruy Loureiro stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gil Velloso's shot from short distance in the 60th minute. Tadeu Correia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Maicon Gonçalves in the 64th minute of play forced Montevideo's goalkeeper Ruy Loureiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 66 minutes into the game, Gil Velloso cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-2. Ruy Loureiro was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 70 minutes, José Maria Favoretto mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the AF CERRADO and the Montevideo players grew even worse after the yellow card. Ruy Loureiro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from André Luiz da Rocha in the 73rd minute of the match. If Natanael Fernandez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ruy Loureiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Severino Alcântara in the 77th minute of play. In the 79th match minute, Montevideo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Almir de Sena to maneuver through the defense. AF CERRADO's José Maria Favoretto got his second yellow card of the match in the 83rd minute. The referee ordered José Maria Favoretto off the ground. Lino Araújo was a little too slow when Tadeu Correia got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 85th minute. The score was now 2-3. Severino Alcântara recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 92nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Lino Araújo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Almir de Sena, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
