Fernando Veiga was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Cafu Alagoano took the ball and in the 14 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Fernando Veiga. Fernando Veiga dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cafu Alagoano in the 19th minute of play forced S.C. Corinthians Paulista's goalkeeper Fernando Veiga to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 20 minutes into the match, S.C. Corinthians Paulista's goal looked a bit too open when Ángel Romero came free, but Fernando Veiga reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some careless play in the S.C. Fernando Veiga made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-7. After the first half MAZER SAF were leading 0-7. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ángel Romero to make the kick off. Corinthians Paulista:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of MAZER SAF:s goal. Fernando Veiga had in the 77thth minute some difficulties stopping Ángel Romero's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. The excitement rose when MAZER SAF's Ángel Romero after 77 played minutes turned away three defenders near the goal, and after that shot a ball that was too difficult for S.C. Corinthians Paulista's goalkeeper to hold. Score! 0-11. S.C. Corinthians Paulista's Fernando Veiga proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 85th minute of the match, managed to save S.C. Corinthians Paulista from getting a goal against them. Fernando Veiga didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 88th minute, which inside left pole to 0-12.
