The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Blanco Paris took the ball and in the 5 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Celedonio Latapiat. Celedonio Latapiat dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. 10 minutes into the match, Blanco Paris had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Celedonio Latapiat. CSD Concepción's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Blanco Paris was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. 20 minutes into the match, U. de Tarapacá's goal looked a bit too open when Paulino Achondo came free, but Mariano Talledo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Baraquiel Markmann hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. U. de Tarapacá's Remi Baros got a good chance for a goal in the 25th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Norberto Juarez took the ball and in the 28 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Celedonio Latapiat. Celedonio Latapiat dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. After having played for 41 minutes, Bartolomé Romero managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. U. de Tarapacá's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bartolomé Romero was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-3 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Paulino Achondo was the one to do the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 54th minute, Frances Gacitúa managed to get in a good position for a shot. CSD Concepción's supporters rose to their feet, but Frances Gacitúa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mariano Talledo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Celedonio Latapiat made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bartolomé Romero in the 58th minute of play. After 59 minutes, Giancarlo Villanueva mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the CSD Concepción and the U. de Tarapacá players grew even worse after the yellow card. If Norberto Juarez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 61 minutes into the match, U. de Tarapacá's goal looked a bit too open when Mónico Muñiz came free, but Mariano Talledo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 63rd minute, Frances Gacitúa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 65 minutes into the match, U. de Tarapacá's goal looked a bit too open when Juan Jose Andaur came free, but Mariano Talledo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Val Quera hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Frances Gacitúa in the 67th minute of play forced U. de Tarapacá's goalkeeper Mariano Talledo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mariano Talledo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mónico Muñiz, who was totally free with the ball in the 69th minute. U. de Tarapacá's Mariano Talledo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Frances Gacitúa in the 71st minute of play. Remi Baros struck a weak shot in the 73rd minute. Celedonio Latapiat didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for U. de Tarapacá. In the 74th minute, Baraquiel Markmann hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a little luck, CSD Concepción's Celedonio Latapiat got control of the ball when Remi Baros tried to sneak it across the goal line. Baraquiel Markmann's late challenge caught a U. de Tarapacá's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Baraquiel Markmann helped the player get up and apologised. In the 81st match minute, CSD Concepción was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Baraquiel Markmann to maneuver through the defense. After recieving a nice pass, U. de Tarapacá's Remi Baros tried to score from far away in the 81st minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. In the 90th minute of the match Ferrán Alcedo sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Mariano Talledo skillfully saved the ball. In the 95th minute, Juan Jose Andaur left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The CSD Concepción fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-3. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. U. de Tarapacá had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
