Benjámin Zádori charged in rather forcefully in the 3rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Benjámin Zádori the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 3 played minutes Szentgotthárd got a freekick which was hit by Benjámin Zádori. Lénárd Gervai came out of the goal in the 11th minute to try and stop a shot by Gyál United's László Medgyesi. But to his dismay, László Medgyesi quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. After 17 played minutes Szentgotthárd got a freekick which was hit by Árpád Farkas. Benjámin Zádori hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling László Medgyesi in the 21st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Lénárd Gervai prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Szentgotthárd's Bálint Sándor got a good chance for a goal in the 22nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 25 minutes into the game, Bálint Fülöp was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Szentgotthárd's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Gyál United the free kick. A collision led to Szentgotthárd getting a freekick after 25 minutes play. Bálint Fülöp hit a great ball. László Medgyesi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Lénárd Gervai showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from István Juhász in the 29th minute of the match. In the 29th match minute, Szentgotthárd was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Milán Nemes to maneuver through the defense. Zoltán Ebedli took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 30th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Lénárd Gervai. Szentgotthárd's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. László Medgyesi struck a weak shot in the 32nd minute. Lénárd Gervai didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gyál United. In the 38th minute István Földes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lénárd Gervai saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 46 minutes into the match, István Földes had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Lénárd Gervai. Szentgotthárd's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that István Földes was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Bálint Sándor was the one to do the kick off. If István Földes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 55thth minute of the game László Medgyesi who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Szentgotthárd's Lénárd Gervai was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a rather tough play, Szentgotthárd's Bálint Fülöp got a free kick in the 55th minute. A hard shot by Zoltán Ebedli from long distance, 56 minutes into the match, got Lénárd Gervai's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. In the 59th match minute, Gyál United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Albert Kozák to maneuver through the defense. Ferenc Baróti charged in rather forcefully in the 61st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ferenc Baróti the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. When Szentgotthárd's Bálint Sándor in the 96th minute got a chance for a shot 96th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Gyál United's goalie prevented a goal. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Gyál United walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
