With an all-out effort, Alemannia Aachen's Berthold Bach threw himself towards the right post 13 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Thomas Müller, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. The crowd rose to their feet as Alemannia Aachen's Valter Xabat slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Berthold Bach. That made the score 1-0 after 16 minutes of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Torsten Henning in the 19th minute of play forced Alemannia Aachen's goalkeeper Jess Carnduff to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lech Wawrukiewicz kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Alemannia Aachen's Lech Wawrukiewicz got a free kick in the 26th minute. Jess Carnduff took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Torsten Henning, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Valter Xabat received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Berthold Bach tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jess Carnduff made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Torsten Henning in the 37th minute of play. Valter Xabat might have been able to make a better finish in the 39th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Berthold Bach. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Valter Xabat ran back to his position shaking his head. 39 minutes into the match, SV Klingsmoos's goalkeeper Berthold Bach had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Valter Xabat. Valter Xabat sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Berthold Bach made a fantastic save in the 42nd minute, when Valter Xabat sent off a good shot on target. Jess Carnduff took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Torsten Henning, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Valter Xabat to make the kick off. With a little luck, Alemannia Aachen's Jess Carnduff got control of the ball when Torsten Henning tried to sneak it across the goal line. SV Klingsmoos's Berthold Bach played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Thomas Müller in the 67th minute of play. When the match clock showed 68 minutes, the score became 2-0 when Thomas Müller sped through SV Klingsmoos's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Berthold Bach. SV Klingsmoos's Börje Bührer was substituted for Ulf Hildebrandt. Manfred Kottsieper kicked well hit freekick during the 76th minute of the match. 80 minutes into the match, Alemannia Aachen's goal looked a bit too open when Richard Nixon came free, but Jess Carnduff reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Valter Xabat sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Berthold Bach showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Valter Xabat, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute. Alemannia Aachen's Jess Carnduff proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 90th minute of the match, managed to save Alemannia Aachen from getting a goal against them. For all the effort they put into the match, the SV Klingsmoos players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Alemannia Aachen.
