The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The American Airlines fans' excitement grew in the 4th match minute when American Airlines's Darnell Metcalf looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Jarrett Rosenberg didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Anoush Khalatbari went, in the 7th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. The supporters of American Airlines booed when Cosmos Soccer Club was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Patrick Fontenot didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Bennvar Nobel in the 13th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jarrett Rosenberg saved Cosmos Soccer Club from getting behind. In the 15th minute of the match American Airlines got a corner. Cosmos Soccer Club's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Darnell Metcalf ran over to the corner to take the kick. Edwin 雷震南 was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. Jarrett Rosenberg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bennvar Nobel in the 24th minute of play. After 25 minutes of play, American Airlines's Darnell Metcalf made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jarrett Rosenberg was left in no man's land by his defense there! 28 minutes into the match, Cosmos Soccer Club's Federico Maia sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Arvin Hökkvist narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Emanuel Novak charged in rather forcefully in the 29th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Emanuel Novak the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Cosmos Soccer Club getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Emanuel Novak hit a great ball. Bennvar Nobel kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. Darnell Metcalf sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When American Airlines's Anoush Khalatbari in the 36th minute got a chance for a shot 36th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Cosmos Soccer Club's goalie prevented a goal. In the 39th minute, Bennvar Nobel got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Jarrett Rosenberg came out of the goal in the 42nd minute to try and stop a shot by American Airlines's Edwin 雷震南. But to his dismay, Edwin 雷震南 quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-5. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-5 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Anoush Khalatbari made the kick off in the second half. Jarrett Rosenberg took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fabio Cannata, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Anoush Khalatbari could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 62nd minute of the match, but Jarrett Rosenberg made a huge save. Jarrett Rosenberg made a fantastic save in the 65th minute, when Darnell Metcalf sent off a good shot on target. American Airlines made a substitution. Lyuben Karavelov replaced Fabio Cannata. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bennvar Nobel in the 75th minute of play forced Cosmos Soccer Club's goalkeeper Jarrett Rosenberg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When American Airlines's Edwin 雷震南 in the 79th minute got a chance for a shot 79th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Cosmos Soccer Club's goalie prevented a goal. Anoush Khalatbari's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Jarrett Rosenberg firmly grabbed it by the left post. Cosmos Soccer Club's Jarrett Rosenberg proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 88th minute of the match, managed to save Cosmos Soccer Club from getting a goal against them. Cosmos Soccer Club's Federico Maia got a good chance for a goal in the 90th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Patrick Fontenot had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cosmos Soccer Club's Jarrett Rosenberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edwin 雷震南 in the 96th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Darnell Metcalf got free with Jarrett Rosenberg in the 98th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
