In the 18th minute, Bogdan Gopov hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Punta Alvear's Venancio Oto proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 19th minute of the match, managed to save Punta Alvear from getting a goal against them. In the 21st minute Yu Quan Di shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Venancio Oto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gabriel Porfiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jacinto Eleazar in the 22nd minute of play. In the 25th minute Janusz Ziemniak shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Venancio Oto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 31 minutes into the match, Luganeros AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Jacinto Eleazar came free, but Gabriel Porfiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gabriel Porfiro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jacinto Eleazar in the 33rd minute of the match. In the 39th minute, Yu Quan Di had to be helped off the field due to a pulled leg muscle. After 39 minutes, Bogdan Gopov mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Punta Alvear and the Luganeros AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Luganeros AFC made a substitution. Luis Vázquez replaced Yu Quan Di. Venancio Oto was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 41st minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Eliseo Bittor. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Luganeros AFC's Ricardo Oinaz was substituted for Janusz Ziemniak. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Rey Ronaldo was the one to do the kick off. A collision led to Luganeros AFC getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Luisito Urtzi hit a great ball. Luganeros AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Rey Ronaldo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Venancio Oto breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Venancio Oto didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Rey Ronaldo went, in the 62nd minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. Venancio Oto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luisito Urtzi, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. Punta Alvear's Venancio Oto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rey Ronaldo in the 68th minute of play. Punta Alvear were furious when Flavio Gergori was red carded, 69 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In the 68th minute, one of Punta Alvear:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Punta Alvear. In the 77th minute, Bogdan Gopov hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Punta Alvear's Venancio Oto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rey Ronaldo in the 84th minute of play. After 89 played minutes, Luganeros AFC's Eliseo Bittor shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Venancio Oto came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. The Luganeros AFC fans cheered their team off the field, for while Punta Alvear had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
