After a defensive mix-up in Pombal 2003 F.C.'s zone, João Adolfo Garcia stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Clóvis Salgado came out of the goal and João Adolfo Garcia tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 21st minute Di Yuan Liang shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dênis Laguna saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 21 minutes into the game, Pombal 2003 F.C.'s Di Yuan Liang nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. The Tenha Dó Dó Dó players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Pombal 2003 F.C. were winning 1-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Di Yuan Liang to make the kick off.
