Gustave Souchu was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Gustave Souchu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Antônio Carlos Almeida in the 15th minute of the match. In the 17th minute of the match En avant de guingamp got a corner. R.C. Marseille's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Magne Wenerdahl ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner ended in Magne Wenerdahl almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but R.C. Marseille's Gustave Souchu did a great save. In the 18thth minute of the game Cyrille Melon who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but En avant de guingamp's Shi Guo Wen was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 20th minute, Ni Jun Liang made a precise shot to the right of Gustave Souchu. R.C. Marseille's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Mihail Toader's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Shi Guo Wen read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 23rd minute of play. Shi Guo Wen was a little too slow when Mihail Toader got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 23rd minute. The score was now 1-2. Gustave Souchu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Antônio Carlos Almeida, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 27th minute, Mihail Toader hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Gustave Souchu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Antônio Carlos Almeida in the 28th minute of play. Gustave Souchu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ni Jun Liang, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ni Jun Liang fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gustave Souchu having to interfere. 42 minutes into the match, Ni Jun Liang had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Gustave Souchu. R.C. Marseille's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ni Jun Liang was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. After the first half En avant de guingamp were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Cyrille Melon to strike the kick off in the second half. After having played for 51 minutes, Song Xing Le managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. R.C. Marseille's supporters crossed their fingers, but Song Xing Le was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Shi Guo Wen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mihail Toader in the 53rd minute of play. 54 minutes into the match, R.C. Marseille's goal looked a bit too open when Diego Jehan came free, but Gustave Souchu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. En avant de guingamp's Shi Guo Wen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cyrille Melon in the 56th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Ni Jun Liang's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gustave Souchu was relentless in the 58th minute of the game. Gustave Souchu stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ni Jun Liang's shot from short distance in the 60th minute. If Diego Jehan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. En avant de guingamp's Mehdi Brasselet was substituted for Diego Jehan. After 66 minutes, Ni Jun Liang made it 1-4 with a short kick to the right side. R.C. Marseille's Gustave Souchu tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. R.C. Marseille's Djibril Mourot was substituted for Mihail Toader. 70 minutes into the game, En avant de guingamp's Ni Jun Liang nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Gustave Souchu made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-5. Gustave Souchu made a fantastic save in the 77th minute, when Ni Jun Liang sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Djibril Mourot in the 79th minute of play forced En avant de guingamp's goalkeeper Shi Guo Wen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Shi Guo Wen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Djibril Mourot in the 80th minute of play. In the 82nd minute, Renan Bouzat hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 87th minute Ni Jun Liang shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gustave Souchu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. R.C. Marseille's Gustave Souchu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ni Jun Liang in the 93rd minute of play. R.C. Marseille's Gustave Souchu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 95th minute of the match, managed to save R.C. Marseille from getting a goal against them. The R.C. Marseille supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching En avant de guingamp's performance. The match ended with a win for En avant de guingamp.
