After the first half Hertha 1969 were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Eugen Jansen struck a weak shot in the 51st minute. Tjark Ernst didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for VfL Bad Nenndorf. Timur Linn kicked well hit freekick during the 52nd minute of the match. Eugen Jansen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tjark Ernst having to interfere. Tjark Ernst took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eugen Jansen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 73rd minute of the match, Simon Böck sent away a good long shot that could have become a goal, but Tjark Ernst showed an example of his skillful tending and made the save just under the crossbar. Tjark Ernst showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eugen Jansen, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute.
