Tanner Merrill didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 7th minute Patrick Fontenot shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Segundo Gol saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Brian Mendoza hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. When Nicky Cavazos came up free with the goalie in the 10th minute, the Cosmos Soccer Club fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nicky Cavazos couldn't finish the play. Rashad Velasquez kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. After 25 minutes, Tanner Merrill mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the New England Minas and the Cosmos Soccer Club players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 25 played minutes New England Minas got a freekick which was hit by Tanner Merrill. 28 minutes into the match, Cosmos Soccer Club's goal looked a bit too open when Mete Ferro came free, but Dan Gheară reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Cosmos Soccer Club's zone, Mete Ferro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dan Gheară came out of the goal and Mete Ferro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Segundo Gol showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Patrick Fontenot, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. Segundo Gol showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Iago Aspas in the 37th minute of the match. Dan Gheară made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Chris Cabezon in the 44th minute of play. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

In the 52nd minute, Cory Kirkland hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Dan Gheară made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mete Ferro in the 58th minute of play. Segundo Gol made a fantastic save in the 59th minute, when Iago Aspas sent off a good shot on target. If Cory Kirkland had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. Cosmos Soccer Club's Dan Gheară played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mete Ferro in the 73rd minute of play. When the match clock showed 82 minutes, the score became 1-0 when Mete Ferro sped through Cosmos Soccer Club's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Dan Gheară. 88 minutes into the match, Cosmos Soccer Club's goal looked a bit too open when Cory Kirkland came free, but Dan Gheară reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 88 minutes into the match, Cory Kirkland had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Dan Gheară. New England Minas's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
