Club Deportes Santa Cruz's Ilkka Markkula played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ambrosio Pepillo in the 20th minute of play. Frank Morris made a fantastic save in the 21st minute, when Hüseyin Rahmi Toper sent off a good shot on target. When the match had gone on for 24 minutes, Ambrosio Pepillo put it in 1-2 from a short distance just to the right of Ilkka Markkula. After some careless play in the Club Deportes Santa Cruz defense, Ambrosio Pepillo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ilkka Markkula. The Club Deportes Santa Cruz fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ilkka Markkula should have stopped the shot. In the 57thth minute of the game Ambrosio Pepillo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Club Deportes Santa Cruz's Ilkka Markkula was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Frank Morris showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Yan Zhi Chuan in the 60th minute of the match. Ilkka Markkula made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ambrosio Pepillo in the 62nd minute of play.
