Olaf Geiger didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Burriss. In the 15thth minute of the game Jules Boggs who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Fire Devils's Olaf Geiger was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. A collision led to Fire Devils getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Ismael Kalnik hit a great ball. Truman Hinton took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 18th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Olaf Geiger. Fire Devils's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 18th match minute, Burriss was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Papillion Cole to maneuver through the defense. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dariusz Nalaskowski in the 19th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Abdel Karim Hanister prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Burriss's Abdel Karim Hanister played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zlatko Ibrahimović in the 20th minute of play. When Jules Boggs came up free with the goalie in the 22nd minute, the Burriss fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jules Boggs couldn't finish the play. Abe Atwood scored 1-0 in the 24th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Olaf Geiger, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After 38 minutes of play, Fire Devils's Dariusz Nalaskowski made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. After a rather tough play, Burriss's Monty Peacock got a free kick in the 43rd minute. The supporters of Burriss booed when Fire Devils was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Olof Palm didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Fire Devils's zone, Truman Hinton stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Olaf Geiger came out of the goal and Truman Hinton tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Abe Atwood to strike the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the match, Fire Devils's goal looked a bit too open when Abe Atwood came free, but Olaf Geiger reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mack Sansouci charged in rather forcefully in the 56th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Olaf Geiger made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Merle Pendleton in the 92nd minute of play. Truman Hinton's late challenge caught a Fire Devils's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Truman Hinton helped the player get up and apologised. Truman Hinton kicked well hit freekick during the 93rd minute of the match.
