U21 Mexico's Ciriaco Hernando played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Toto Tualasamony in the 16th minute of play. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Ciriaco Hernando made an important save on a dangerous shot by Toto Tualasamony in the 31st minute. 33 minutes into the game, Duloh Kaimu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. U21 Indonesia's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave U21 Mexico the free kick. After having played for 34 minutes, Ovidio Pabla managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. U21 Mexico's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ovidio Pabla was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A well-hit corner resulted in Duloh Kaimu heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. In the 47th minute, one of U21 Mexico:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for U21 Mexico.
Ciriaco Hernando showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Anak Junior, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute.
