Mike Richardson showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-0. Lanny Gilmore in the 16thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Teodoro Maurito, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Lanny Gilmore who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 16thth minute tested the skills of Teodoro Maurito when he managed to save the team from getting behind. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Lanny Gilmore might have been able to make a better finish in the 57th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Teodoro Maurito. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Lanny Gilmore ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 57th minute Lanny Gilmore shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Teodoro Maurito saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Teodoro Maurito showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tyron Velasquez, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute. 94 minutes into the match, Chesterfield's goal looked a bit too open when Tyron Velasquez came free, but Teodoro Maurito reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 96 played minutes, Santos FC's Tory Weeks shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Teodoro Maurito came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Santos FC reached it. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Santos FC fully deserved thier win.
