The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 4 minutes into the match, Club Atlético Atlanta's goal looked a bit too open when Elpidio Francis came free, but Pankracy Glogowski reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 6th minute Eber Melivilu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pankracy Glogowski saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Pankracy Glogowski took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Elpidio Francis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Branislav Velchevski proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 12th minute of the match, managed to save ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA from getting a goal against them. Branislav Velchevski made an important save on a dangerous shot by Şevket Çağa in the 13th minute. Pankracy Glogowski came out of the goal in the 17th minute to try and stop a shot by ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Miguel Prosperi. But to his dismay, Miguel Prosperi quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. In the 19th minute, Şevket Çağa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 21st minute of the match, Eustaquio Jaizki tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Branislav Velchevski saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Miguel Prosperi blasted a shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Pankracy Glogowski having to make a save. If Arnaldo Gabon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Pankracy Glogowski made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Elpidio Francis in the 26th minute of play. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Branislav Velchevski proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 28th minute of the match, managed to save ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA from getting a goal against them. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Timoteo Basualdo was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Pankracy Glogowski in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. After some careless play in the Club Atlético Atlanta defense, Arnaldo Gabon kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Pankracy Glogowski. The Club Atlético Atlanta fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Pankracy Glogowski should have stopped the shot. Pankracy Glogowski showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Elpidio Francis in the 42nd minute of the match. Rafael Dalmu struck a weak shot in the 44th minute. Pankracy Glogowski didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA. Pankracy Glogowski took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Elpidio Francis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

Pankracy Glogowski made a fantastic save in the 65th minute, when Elpidio Francis sent off a good shot on target. The supporters of Club Atlético Atlanta booed when ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position.
