The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 16 minutes into the game, FC Caspiy's Klim Muravev nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ruy Loureiro made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. In the 19th minute Tadeu Correia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Martyn Baiseitov saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 22nd match minute, FC Caspiy was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Andrey Iskrov to maneuver through the defense. In the 23rd minute of the match Almir de Sena shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Martyn Baiseitov showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. A collision led to FC Caspiy getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Andrey Iskrov hit a great ball. In the 28th minute, Henrique Coelho made a precise shot to the right of Martyn Baiseitov. FC Caspiy's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. José Carlos Nunes's late challenge caught a FC Caspiy's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. After recieving a nice pass, FC Caspiy's Petr Putyatin tried to score from far away in the 39th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. After 42 minutes, Klim Muravev mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC Caspiy and the Montevideo players grew even worse after the yellow card. When Petr Putyatin fell near the penalty area in the 45th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Caspiy's protests and gave Petr Putyatin a yellow card for diving instead. In the 45th minute, Petr Putyatin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Montevideo's Almir de Sena got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

When Klim Muravev was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 53 minutes had been played. Klim Muravev kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match. Ruy Loureiro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Petr Putyatin, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. After a rather tough play, FC Caspiy's Filipp Debabov got a free kick in the 72nd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tadeu Correia in the 74th minute of play forced FC Caspiy's goalkeeper Martyn Baiseitov to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Henrique Coelho during the 83rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card.
