An unexpectedly hard shot by Rodriguinho Nascimento in the 17th minute of play forced Vascogoianiense FC's goalkeeper Zé Augusto Peixoto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to ♙Fluminense Campéon 23♙ getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Kléberson Alves hit a great ball. Márcio Medeiros in the 23rdth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Almir Machado, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 27th minute, Jardel Abraão ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Zé Augusto Peixoto was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. If Christiano de Azevedo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 39 played minutes Vascogoianiense FC got a freekick which was hit by Válter Martins. Jardel Abraão received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Zé Augusto Peixoto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Kléberson Alves hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. The supporters of Vascogoianiense FC booed when ♙Fluminense Campéon 23♙ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 48 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kléberson Alves didn't get a good kick on the ball.

Almir Machado made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Márcio Medeiros in the 57th minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Rodriguinho Nascimento kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Zé Augusto Peixoto. That made the score 0-3 in the 59 minute of play. After 61 played minutes Vascogoianiense FC got a freekick which was hit by Inácio Linhares. Josué Pena took the ball and in the 68 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Almir Machado. Almir Machado dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-3. Rodriguinho Nascimento's late challenge caught a Vascogoianiense FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Rodriguinho Nascimento helped the player get up and apologised. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gabriel Trancoso during the 72nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 72nd minute, Gabriel Trancoso hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 87 minutes into the match, Vascogoianiense FC's goalkeeper Zé Augusto Peixoto had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jardel Abraão. Flavinho Vinhas kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Vascogoianiense FC's zone, Rodriguinho Nascimento stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Zé Augusto Peixoto came out of the goal and Rodriguinho Nascimento tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 97th minute Márcio Medeiros shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Almir Machado saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
