The referee ignored Palermo AFC's protests and gave Cao Xi Kuan a yellow card for diving instead. Santa Margarita's Wendell Davids was substituted for Gonzalo Orixe. Pontus Nordström showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cao Xi Kuan, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. A collision led to Santa Margarita getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Enzo Peruxu hit a great ball. Rodrigo Bautista might have been able to make a better finish in the 45th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Pontus Nordström. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Rodrigo Bautista ran back to his position shaking his head. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rodrigo Bautista in the 45th minute of play forced Santa Margarita's goalkeeper Pontus Nordström to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Santa Margarita's Pontus Nordström played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rodrigo Bautista in the 46th minute of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

In the 53rd minute, Andréas Hasselqvist left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Santa Margarita fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. Pontus Nordström didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Palermo AFC. Palermo AFC's Severino Barros played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Klaus Mohammadi in the 95th minute of play. In the 97th minute Santa Margarita were awarded a corner. Eduardo De Francesco went to the cornerflag to take it. After taking down the ball on Santa Margarita's corner Eduardo De Francesco fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Severino Barros quite easily take care of the ball.
