Spectators: 511 (Terracing: 384, Seating: 117, VIP seats: 10) Fotbal Club Vaslui's Marius Teodoroiu started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rdth minute of the game Damian Pantelimon who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Fotbal Club Vaslui's Olimpiu Gârbovan was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Olimpiu Gârbovan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Damian Pantelimon in the 5th minute of the match. Dudu Georgescu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Olimpiu Gârbovan having to interfere. Dudu Georgescu who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 7thth minute tested the skills of Olimpiu Gârbovan when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dudu Georgescu got free with Olimpiu Gârbovan in the 9th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After having played for 11 minutes, Dudu Georgescu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Carpathians's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dudu Georgescu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Damian Pantelimon in the 12th minute of play forced Fotbal Club Vaslui's goalkeeper Olimpiu Gârbovan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gigel Rânceanu during the 13th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Fotbal Club Vaslui's Gigel Rânceanu got a free kick in the 13th minute. Fotbal Club Vaslui's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Damian Pantelimon 15 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-0. After 17 minutes, Marius Teodoroiu mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Fotbal Club Vaslui and the Carpathians players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 17th match minute, Fotbal Club Vaslui was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marius Teodoroiu to maneuver through the defense. In the 18th minute, Dudu Georgescu made a precise shot to the right of Olimpiu Gârbovan. Fotbal Club Vaslui's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. 22 minutes into the match, Fotbal Club Vaslui's goalkeeper Olimpiu Gârbovan had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Dudu Georgescu. Traian Vaştag blasted a shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Basarab Pârcălab having to make a save. Olimpiu Gârbovan stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Damian Pantelimon's shot from short distance in the 28th minute. Olimpiu Gârbovan made a fantastic save in the 36th minute, when Dudu Georgescu sent off a good shot on target. Olimpiu Gârbovan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Damian Pantelimon, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. A collision led to Fotbal Club Vaslui getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Gigel Rânceanu hit a great ball. Mugurel Panaitescu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 40th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Marius Teodoroiu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Dudu Georgescu to strike the kick off in the second half. Fotbal Club Vaslui's Olimpiu Gârbovan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Damian Pantelimon in the 52nd minute of play. Dudu Georgescu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 53rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Carpathians's Dudu Georgescu in the 54th minute got a chance for a shot 54th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Fotbal Club Vaslui's goalie prevented a goal. After 55 played minutes Fotbal Club Vaslui got a freekick which was hit by Marius Teodoroiu. Fotbal Club Vaslui's Olimpiu Gârbovan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Damian Pantelimon in the 58th minute of play. The supporters of Carpathians booed when Fotbal Club Vaslui was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Emilian Todoran didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Horea Manciulescu fell near the penalty area in the 65th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Carpathians's protests and gave Horea Manciulescu a yellow card for diving instead. Horea Manciulescu kicked well hit freekick during the 65th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mugurel Panaitescu in the 67th minute of play forced Fotbal Club Vaslui's goalkeeper Olimpiu Gârbovan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Carpathians booed when Fotbal Club Vaslui was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Teodor Oneț didn't get a good kick on the ball. Carpathians's Horaţiu Rednic was substituted for Cristi Goiceanu. Dudu Georgescu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. If Horaţiu Rednic had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Horea Manciulescu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Olimpiu Gârbovan having to interfere. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Carpathians had played much better football throughout.
