The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Alex Wenike helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to U21 Denmark getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Alex Wenike hit a great ball. After 11 played minutes, U21 Netherlands's Wim Oosterman shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Einar Klysnov came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in U21 Netherlands reached it. Wim Oosterman charged in rather forcefully in the 15th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Wim Oosterman the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 15th minute, Wim Oosterman hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of U21 Denmark booed when U21 Netherlands was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edgar Baan didn't get a good kick on the ball. U21 Netherlands's Laurens Oosterman proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 29th minute of the match, managed to save U21 Netherlands from getting a goal against them. U21 Denmark's Alex Wenike got his second yellow card of the match in the 31st minute. U21 Netherlands's Laurens Oosterman proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 45th minute of the match, managed to save U21 Netherlands from getting a goal against them. In the 47th minute, U21 Denmark's Dan Vøge dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ed Seinstra stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 57th match minute, U21 Netherlands was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edgar Baan to maneuver through the defense. 58 minutes into the match, Dan Vøge had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Laurens Oosterman. U21 Netherlands's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Dan Vøge was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. Einar Klysnov made an important save on a dangerous shot by Remond Zijden in the 62nd minute. U21 Denmark made a substitution. Daniel Agger replaced Haakon Grenholt. 70 minutes into the match, U21 Denmark's goalkeeper Einar Klysnov had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Tony Montana. In the 75th minute of the match, Hans-Cees Roordink tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Einar Klysnov saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 79th minute Dan Vøge shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Laurens Oosterman saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 81 minutes into the match, Dan Vøge notched a goal, 4-0, to the right of U21 Netherlands's Laurens Oosterman. Laurens Oosterman was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. U21 Netherlands's Niels Zwart was substituted for Chris Hollander. Remond Zijden could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 86th minute of the match, but Einar Klysnov made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dan Vøge in the 89th minute of play forced U21 Netherlands's goalkeeper Laurens Oosterman to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tony Montana's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Einar Klysnov firmly grabbed it by the left post. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. U21 Denmark had won after a very even match.
