In the 19th minute the ball was on its way in behind U21 Netherlands's goalkeeper Carsten Maurits, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 20th minute U21 Denmark were awarded a corner. Ros Endal went to the cornerflag to take it. Ros Endal made a great header on U21 Denmark's corner, it was just that U21 Netherlands's Carsten Maurits managed to reach the ball for a save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dan Vøge got free with Carsten Maurits in the 21st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. U21 Denmark's Einar Klysnov played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Henk Hoebe in the 22nd minute of play. Jasper Staarman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After a rather tough play, U21 Netherlands's Jordi Meijer got a free kick in the 25th minute. U21 Denmark's Einar Klysnov played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jasper Staarman in the 27th minute of play. Einar Klysnov showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Henk Hoebe in the 28th minute of the match. After 29 played minutes U21 Denmark got a freekick which was hit by Fillip Sivananda. After 30 played minutes, U21 Netherlands's Frits Andriessen shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Einar Klysnov came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in U21 Netherlands reached it. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jasper Staarman to make the kick off. U21 Netherlands's Carsten Maurits played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dan Vøge in the 52nd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ed Seinstra in the 54th minute of play forced U21 Denmark's goalkeeper Einar Klysnov to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dan Vøge took the ball and in the 55 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Carsten Maurits. Carsten Maurits dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Carsten Maurits showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dan Vøge in the 57th minute of the match. Asmus Molbo hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. When Remond Zijden came up free with the goalie in the 59th minute, the U21 Netherlands fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Remond Zijden couldn't finish the play. U21 Denmark's Dan Vøge got a good chance for a goal in the 64th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. U21 Denmark made a substitution. Eg Flensburg replaced Haakon Grenholt. U21 Denmark made a substitution. Bo Dogel replaced Ros Endal. If Remond Zijden had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 70th match minute, U21 Denmark was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Daniel Agger to maneuver through the defense. Bo Dogel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Bo Dogel took the ball and in the 76 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Carsten Maurits. Carsten Maurits dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. 81 minutes into the match, U21 Denmark's goalkeeper Einar Klysnov had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Remond Zijden. In the 81st minute, U21 Netherlands's Ruud Geels dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-2. In the 84th minute, Dan Vøge ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Carsten Maurits was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-2. Eg Flensburg's late challenge caught a U21 Netherlands's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Eg Flensburg helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of U21 Netherlands booed when U21 Denmark was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 88 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eg Flensburg didn't get a good kick on the ball. Einar Klysnov was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 89th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Frits Andriessen. Asmus Molbo hit a great freekick 90 minutes into the match. After 92 played minutes U21 Netherlands got a freekick which was hit by Frits Andriessen. 94 minutes into the match, U21 Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Dan Vøge came free, but Carsten Maurits reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 95th minute Dan Vøge shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carsten Maurits saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. U21 Denmark's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
