The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. A collision led to U21 Tunisia getting a freekick after 3 minutes play. After a defensive mix-up in U21 Tunisia's zone, Lovro Rališ stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Férid Khalifa came out of the goal and Lovro Rališ tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Vjeran Bulats short, quick shot in the 14thth minute got Férid Khalifa to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 16th minute Tonko Grković shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Férid Khalifa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Férid Khalifa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marcel Gradiček, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. After some careless play in the U21 Tunisia defense, Marcel Gradiček kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Férid Khalifa. The U21 Tunisia fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Férid Khalifa should have stopped the shot. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. U21 Croatia fully deserved thier win.
