A throw-in in the 3rd minute of the game was made by Herve Muller with J.C. Mijatović as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. Gus Bösch came out of the goal in the 5th minute to try and stop a shot by U21 France's Léon Cailleaux. But to his dismay, Léon Cailleaux quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. The audience was convinced that Léon Cailleaux's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gus Bösch was relentless in the 8th minute of the game. Léon Cailleaux scored 0-2 in the 12th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Gus Bösch, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The audience thought a goal was coming when Enrique Freitag got free with Felix Poggi in the 16th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. U21 France's Felix Poggi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Enrique Freitag in the 18th minute of play. 20 minutes into the match, Enrique Freitag notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of U21 France's Felix Poggi. Felix Poggi was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Gus Bösch took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Léon Cailleaux, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 24th minute of the match U21 France got a corner. U21 Switzerland's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Theo Chassot ran over to the corner to take the kick. Theo Chassot made a great header on U21 France's corner, it was just that U21 Switzerland's Gus Bösch managed to reach the ball for a save. Léon Cailleaux received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Gus Bösch tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 36th minute Otto Dubler shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Felix Poggi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Felix Poggi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Otto Dubler, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. In the 39th minute, Ronaldo-Luís De La Rosa-Mora left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The U21 Switzerland fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-3. In the 44th minute Léon Cailleaux shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gus Bösch saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 2-3.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Simone Ritieni made a kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 55th minute, Léon Cailleaux managed to get in a good position for a shot. U21 France's supporters rose to their feet, but Léon Cailleaux was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gus Bösch breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. U21 Switzerland's Gus Bösch proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 61st minute of the match, managed to save U21 Switzerland from getting a goal against them. Léon Cailleaux blasted a shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Gus Bösch having to make a save. Gus Bösch made an important save on a dangerous shot by Léon Cailleaux in the 62nd minute. Gus Bösch made a fantastic save in the 64th minute, when Momo Boumedienne sent off a good shot on target. 66 minutes into the match, U21 France's goal looked a bit too open when Otto Dubler came free, but Felix Poggi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Felix Poggi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Otto Dubler in the 68th minute of the match. In the 72nd minute Simone Ritieni shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Felix Poggi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Léon Cailleaux recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 76th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. U21 France's Alain Dennemont was substituted for Arnaud Clément. U21 Switzerland made a substitution. Salomo Montandon replaced Fred Stutz. After a rather tough play, U21 Switzerland's Otto Dubler got a free kick in the 81st minute. Felix Poggi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Simone Ritieni in the 85th minute of play. U21 Switzerland's Gus Bösch played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pierre Le Saint in the 86th minute of play. In the 87th minute of the match U21 France got a corner. U21 Switzerland's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Faouzi Duclos ran over to the corner to take the kick. With 91 minutes on the clock, Clint Wicky commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. The supporters of U21 France booed when U21 Switzerland was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Clint Wicky didn't get a good kick on the ball. The U21 France players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
