Fred Renteria hit a great freekick 4 minutes into the match. A collision led to U21 El Salvador getting a freekick after 6 minutes play. Efren Díaz hit a great ball. Marlin Dawson hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. Manuel Collado made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fred Renteria in the 16th minute of play. Manuel Collado showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Owen Vera, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. 19 minutes into the match, Owen Vera notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of U21 El Salvador's Manuel Collado. Manuel Collado was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Steven McFadden sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 26th minute Owen Vera shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Manuel Collado saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. U21 El Salvador's Jorge Leiva came free and shot a quick shot against goal 35 minutes in the game, fortunately Tigran Balayan had problems saving as it came toward the left post. U21 United States's Tigran Balayan proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 37th minute of the match, managed to save U21 United States from getting a goal against them. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Owen Vera in the 43rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Manuel Collado prevented the ball from getting in the gole. U21 United States's Owen Vera was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Manuel Collado in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. U21 United States's Tigran Balayan proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 47th minute of the match, managed to save U21 United States from getting a goal against them.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Owen Vera made a kick off. In the 56th match minute, U21 El Salvador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mariano Orobio to maneuver through the defense. Owen Vera sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dennis Bender recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 58th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. U21 El Salvador's Libardo Fuentes was substituted for Angel Hurtado. Manuel Collado made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Owen Vera in the 61st minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Owen Vera in the 62nd minute of play forced U21 El Salvador's goalkeeper Manuel Collado to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 68th minute, Owen Vera fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Manuel Collado took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Owen Vera, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Manuel Collado made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Owen Vera in the 82nd minute of play. Tigran Balayan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Libardo Fuentes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Dennis Bender fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Manuel Collado having to interfere. U21 El Salvador's Manuel Collado played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lloyd Urbina in the 90th minute of play. In the 91st match minute, U21 United States was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jão Cabeleira to maneuver through the defense. Tigran Balayan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mauro Botello, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When U21 El Salvador's Baltazar Rosales in the 96th minute got a chance for a shot 96th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye U21 United States's goalie prevented a goal. U21 United States played a much better game than U21 El Salvador and deserved their victory. The U21 El Salvador players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
