A collision led to U21 Kenya getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Moses Obala hit a great ball. In the 13th minute of the match Arkadiy Bezborodko sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Bernard Ngolepus skillfully saved the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sedat Erim in the 18th minute of play forced U21 Kenya's goalkeeper Bernard Ngolepus to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wangui Mwangi in the 20th minute of play forced U21 Kazakhstan's goalkeeper Innokentiy Beskov to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Innokentiy Beskov stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Samson Kalekye's shot from short distance in the 22nd minute. Innokentiy Beskov made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wangui Mwangi in the 24th minute of play. Wangui Mwangi scored 0-2 in the 24th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Innokentiy Beskov, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. U21 Kenya's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Myles Ongao in the 34th minute. U21 Kenya's Myles Ongao was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Innokentiy Beskov in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Innokentiy Beskov took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Samson Kalekye, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 39th minute, Arkadiy Bezborodko hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wangui Mwangi in the 40th minute of play forced U21 Kazakhstan's goalkeeper Innokentiy Beskov to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Samson Kalekye sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Moses Obala's late challenge caught a U21 Kazakhstan's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Moses Obala helped the player get up and apologised. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Sedat Erim stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. When Samson Kalekye came up free with the goalie in the 53rd minute, the U21 Kenya fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Samson Kalekye couldn't finish the play. 54 minutes into the game, Stepan Arakelyan was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. U21 Kazakhstan's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave U21 Kenya the free kick. Stepan Arakelyan hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. Innokentiy Beskov showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Samson Kalekye, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. 61 minutes into the game, Sedat Erim cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-2. Bernard Ngolepus was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Bernard Ngolepus didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Sedat Erim went, in the 65th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-2 was the resulting score. When the match clock showed 68 minutes, the score became 3-3 when Samson Kalekye sped through U21 Kazakhstan's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Innokentiy Beskov. The supporters of U21 Kazakhstan booed when U21 Kenya was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edwin Hassan didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience was convinced that Samson Kalekye's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Innokentiy Beskov was relentless in the 71st minute of the game. 73 minutes had been played when some careless play by U21 Kazakhstan's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Myles Ongao was slow to take the kick. During this time U21 Kenya's players had a chance to rest. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Samson Kalekye in the 75th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Innokentiy Beskov saved U21 Kazakhstan from getting behind. In the 76th minute Samson Kalekye shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Innokentiy Beskov saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bernard Ngolepus made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Roman Lukin in the 78th minute of play. Stepan Arakelyan got his second yellow card in the match during the 81st minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. After 83 minutes, Arkadiy Bezborodko mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the U21 Kazakhstan and the U21 Kenya players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 83 played minutes U21 Kazakhstan got a freekick which was hit by Arkadiy Bezborodko. Myles Ongao recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 84th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Innokentiy Beskov took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Samson Kalekye, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 87th minute, Samson Kalekye reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Innokentiy Beskov. The goal made the score 3-4. With splendid footwork Samson Kalekye arrived in front of goal to shoot 3-5 by the left pole in the game's 90th minute. After 95 played minutes U21 Kenya got a freekick which was hit by Richard Menza. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. U21 Kenya walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
