A throw-in in the 17th minute of the game was made by Stathis Giannopoulos with Zacharias Kaligas as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. 20 minutes into the game, U21 Poland's Grzegorz Czerwinski nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Stergios Samartzis made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Grzegorz Czerwinski struck a weak shot in the 27th minute. Stergios Samartzis didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for U21 Poland. A collision led to U21 Poland getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Cyryl Imbor hit a great ball. Tanek Wojtyna showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Argyris Tsaousidis in the 37th minute of the match. In the 41st minute the ball was on its way in behind U21 Greece's goalkeeper Stergios Samartzis, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 41 minutes into the game, U21 Poland's Grzegorz Czerwinski nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Stergios Samartzis made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. After having played for 44 minutes, Grzegorz Czerwinski managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. U21 Poland's supporters crossed their fingers, but Grzegorz Czerwinski was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Erli Haaland was the one to do the kick off. A collision led to U21 Poland getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Cyryl Imbor hit a great ball. Grzegorz Czerwinski recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 56th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 65th minute the ball was on its way in behind U21 Poland's goalkeeper Tanek Wojtyna, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Tanek Wojtyna came out of the goal in the 67th minute to try and stop a shot by U21 Greece's Erli Haaland. But to his dismay, Erli Haaland quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. U21 Poland's Witold Bycofski was substituted for Grzegorz Czerwinski. U21 Poland made a substitution. Kryspin Mleczewski replaced Federico Chiesa. U21 Greece's Sokratis Tsardikos was substituted for Zacharias Kaligas. Stergios Samartzis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Witold Bycofski, who was totally free with the ball in the 73rd minute. The audience was convinced that Erli Haaland's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Tanek Wojtyna was relentless in the 82nd minute of the game. After 87 played minutes U21 Poland got a freekick which was hit by Zdzislaw Rydzewski. Argyris Tsaousidis took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 89th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Tanek Wojtyna. U21 Poland's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Tanek Wojtyna made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dimitris Peravrechidis in the 90th minute of play. U21 Poland's Wiktor Hodyl was substituted for Karol Andrzejewski. The U21 Poland supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing U21 Poland would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
