After 9 played minutes LOI got a freekick which was hit by Mehmet Akif Cerme. A sloppy throw-in by Edgar Reitsema in the 15th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by LOI's Ahmet Hamdi Ortan. When the match clock showed 18 minutes, the score became 1-1 when Sulo Montaña sped through SCs StarS's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Petr Čech. Petr Čech showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Özgür Özbay, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. If Jordy Dirks had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 30thth minute of the game Sulo Montaña who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but SCs StarS's Petr Čech was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 30 played minutes LOI got a freekick which was hit by Mehmet Akif Cerme. Petr Čech took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Özgür Özbay, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 34 minutes into the match, SCs StarS's goal looked a bit too open when Özgür Özbay came free, but Petr Čech reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Petr Čech showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sulo Montaña in the 36th minute of the match. Thiago Gol's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but George Buturugã read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 38th minute of play. Petr Čech showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sulo Montaña, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. In the 46th minute Özgür Özbay shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Petr Čech saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Özgür Özbay in the 52nd minute of play forced SCs StarS's goalkeeper Petr Čech to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 53rd minute of the match LOI got a corner. SCs StarS's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Habib Durukan ran over to the corner to take the kick. SCs StarS's Petr Čech played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Özgür Özbay in the 60th minute of play. Petr Čech came out of the goal in the 65th minute to try and stop a shot by LOI's Özgür Özbay. But to his dismay, Özgür Özbay quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. In the 68th minute, Özgür Özbay made a precise shot to the right of Petr Čech. SCs StarS's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-3. LOI made a substitution. Tayyip Taylan replaced Habib Durukan. A collision led to LOI getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Özgür Özbay hit a great ball. The supporters of LOI booed when SCs StarS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Henk Zijden didn't get a good kick on the ball. LOI were awarded a corner in the 86th minute after SCs StarS's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Ahmet Hamdi Ortan took the corner. After a rather tough play, LOI's Mehmet Akif Cerme got a free kick in the 86th minute. 91 minutes into the match, SCs StarS's goal looked a bit too open when Kerimhan Cevher came free, but Petr Čech reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. George Buturugã showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Thiago Gol, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute. Petr Čech made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Özgür Özbay in the 94th minute of play. The LOI supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing LOI would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
