Celta de Virgos's attentive Alexis Sanchez managed to snatch the ball when Evelio Nevada made a throw-in in the 18th minute of the game. When the match had gone on for 21 minutes, Donato Gonzalez put it in 0-2 from a short distance just to the right of Zacarias Ascencio. Zacarias Ascencio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Carlos Alberto Nebbia, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Carlos Alberto Nebbia made a kick off. With a little luck, Celta de Virgos's Zacarias Ascencio got control of the ball when Donato Gonzalez tried to sneak it across the goal line. Celta de Virgos's supporters crossed their fingers, but David Astudillo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Sportivo Loren-Delfrajo's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
