The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 3 minutes into the match, Oldham Athletic's goal looked a bit too open when Erland Alebom came free, but Mattias Pihlgren reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Herman Viberg in the 7th minute of play forced Oldham Athletic's goalkeeper Mattias Pihlgren to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 8 played minutes Oldham Athletic got a freekick which was hit by Björn Svanström. In the 11th minute, Bror Hegg hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Herman Viberg sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Harry Svanberg fell near the penalty area in the 18th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Oldham Athletic's protests and gave Harry Svanberg a yellow card for diving instead. In the 23rd minute, Herman Viberg got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 30th match minute, Skollholmen FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Michael Python to maneuver through the defense. If Adrian Pettersson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Oldham Athletic getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Adrian Pettersson hit a great ball. Mattias Pihlgren stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Herman Viberg's shot from short distance in the 37th minute. The corner ended in Erland Alebom almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Oldham Athletic's Mattias Pihlgren did a great save. In the 40th minute Herman Viberg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mattias Pihlgren saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mattias Pihlgren didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Herman Viberg went, in the 40th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. In the 43rdth minute of the game Erland Alebom who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Oldham Athletic's Mattias Pihlgren was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 44th minute, Jens-Erik Moberg made a precise shot to the right of Mattias Pihlgren. Oldham Athletic's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the match had gone on for 55 minutes, Erland Alebom put it in 0-3 from a short distance just to the right of Mattias Pihlgren. When Harry Svanberg came up free with the goalie in the 60th minute, the Oldham Athletic fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Harry Svanberg couldn't finish the play. Mattias Pihlgren took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Erland Alebom, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Erland Alebom received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Mattias Pihlgren tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Björn Svanström's late challenge caught a Skollholmen FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Björn Svanström helped the player get up and apologised. In the 67th minute, Björn Svanström hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 74th minute, Jens-Erik Moberg made a precise shot to the right of Mattias Pihlgren. Oldham Athletic's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-4. Adrian Pettersson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Måns Sigfridsson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 79 minutes into the game, Erland Alebom cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-5. Mattias Pihlgren was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Adrian Pettersson was shown his second yellow card after 85 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. After 86 played minutes Oldham Athletic got a freekick which was hit by Adrian Pettersson. Oldham Athletic's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Erland Alebom 87 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 0-7. The Oldham Athletic fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Skollholmen FC were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
