After some careless play in the VB-Team defense, Antoni Cupial kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Osvaldo Vilaverde. The VB-Team fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Osvaldo Vilaverde should have stopped the shot. After 42 played minutes VB-Team got a freekick which was hit by Jaime Corte-Real. Osvaldo Vilaverde showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Borys Szarmach, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. 45 minutes into the match, VB-Team's goal looked a bit too open when Barnaba Borcz came free, but Osvaldo Vilaverde reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Barnaba Borcz charged in rather forcefully in the 47th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Barnaba Borcz the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-3 lead.

The crowd rose to their feet as Newcastle United's Wlodzimierz Sokolski slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Osvaldo Vilaverde. That made the score 0-4 after 51 minutes of play. Osvaldo Vilaverde made a fantastic save in the 65th minute, when Antoni Cupial sent off a good shot on target. A collision led to VB-Team getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. The Newcastle United fans' excitement grew in the 76th match minute when Newcastle United's Wlodzimierz Sokolski looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-5 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Osvaldo Vilaverde took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wlodzimierz Sokolski, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Newcastle United had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
