IFK Göteborg's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Padro Cabrera was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. After a defensive mix-up in IFK Göteborg's zone, Geofredo Benito stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Arman Bengtsson came out of the goal and Geofredo Benito tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Kjell-Arne Sundström fell near the penalty area in the 13th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored IFK Göteborg's protests and gave Kjell-Arne Sundström a yellow card for diving instead. In the 13th minute, Kjell-Arne Sundström hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Torsten Petersson who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 18thth minute tested the skills of Ahmed Venon when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Kent Löfkvist kicked well hit freekick during the 29th minute of the match. Padro Cabrera recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 34th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. IFK Göteborg's Arman Bengtsson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Giorgio Camacho in the 35th minute of play. The supporters of Salelles booed when IFK Göteborg was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mattias Kilman didn't get a good kick on the ball. IFK Göteborg's Arman Bengtsson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Padro Cabrera in the 40th minute of play. A collision led to IFK Göteborg getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Olle Ekström hit a great ball. 45 minutes into the game, Fidel Astudillo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Arman Bengtsson was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Torsten Petersson to make the kick off. After a rather tough play, IFK Göteborg's Kjell-Arne Sundström got a free kick in the 52nd minute. Ahmed Venon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Torsten Petersson, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. Ahmed Venon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Torsten Petersson in the 58th minute of play. Arman Bengtsson didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Padro Cabrera went, in the 60th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. Padro Cabrera fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arman Bengtsson having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Geofredo Benito got free with Arman Bengtsson in the 81st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Torsten Petersson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 88 minutes into the match, IFK Göteborg's goalkeeper Arman Bengtsson had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Geofredo Benito. The supporters of Salelles booed when IFK Göteborg was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 89 match minutes in a wonderful position. Torsten Petersson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Beltza De Paula might have been able to make a better finish in the 94th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Arman Bengtsson. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Beltza De Paula ran back to his position shaking his head. Arman Bengtsson stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Fidel Astudillo's shot from short distance in the 97th minute. When the match was over Salelles could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than IFK Göteborg throughout the match.
