Carlos Linhares tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Despidida AFC booed when Sporting Clube de Gaya was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. In the 40th minute, Faustino Gaztea got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Sporting Clube de Gaya made a substitution. Nuno Carmo replaced Lucílio Parente. The wind increased when Manuel Fernandes made the kick off in the second half. Cesário Veiga's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Clodoveo Tab read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 78th minute of play. Elpidio Jorrin kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match. In the 92nd match minute, Despidida AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Natalio Kiliz to maneuver through the defense. In the 94th minute, Natalio Kiliz got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Despidida AFC walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
