Grêmio FBPA's Moisés da Silveira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Youri Djorkaeff in the 6th minute of play. After 8 minutes of play, Avel Vat's Ahmid Le Bastard made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Moisés da Silveira was left in no man's land by his defense there! Moïse Labruyère made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alberto Barros in the 11th minute of play. Clóvis Alves kicked well hit freekick during the 18th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Grêmio FBPA's Clóvis Faria got a free kick in the 18th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Youri Djorkaeff in the 20th minute of play forced Grêmio FBPA's goalkeeper Moisés da Silveira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Moisés da Silveira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Youri Djorkaeff, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. Eduardo Miranda charged in rather forcefully in the 22nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Eduardo Miranda the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 23rd match minute, Grêmio FBPA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eduardo Miranda to maneuver through the defense. During the 25th minute of the match Eduardo Miranda completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Eduardo Miranda a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 25th minute, Eduardo Miranda hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ahmid Le Bastard struck a weak shot in the 28th minute. Moisés da Silveira didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Avel Vat. Grêmio FBPA's José Pedro Novaes was substituted for Alberto Barros. 32 minutes in the game, Edmond Kubiak fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Moisés da Silveira having to interfere. Moisés da Silveira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Youri Djorkaeff in the 34th minute of play. In the 36th minute Youri Djorkaeff shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Moisés da Silveira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 44th minute, Avel Vat's Guillaume Minier dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 3-0. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. José Pedro Novaes was the one to do the kick off. Edmond Kubiak scored 4-0 in the 58th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Moisés da Silveira, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Guillaume Minier received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Moisés da Silveira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Moisés da Silveira didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Youri Djorkaeff went, in the 63rd minute, to the upper right corner, 5-0 was the resulting score. After 67 played minutes Grêmio FBPA got a freekick which was hit by Clóvis Faria. 69 minutes into the match, Grêmio FBPA's goal looked a bit too open when Guillaume Minier came free, but Moisés da Silveira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Avel Vat booed when Grêmio FBPA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Clóvis Faria didn't get a good kick on the ball. Youri Djorkaeff took the ball and in the 75 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Moisés da Silveira. Moisés da Silveira dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 6-0. In the 77th minute Youri Djorkaeff shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Moisés da Silveira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 78th minute, Genílson Salgado hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Guillaume Minier had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 86 minutes into the match, Grêmio FBPA's goal looked a bit too open when Youri Djorkaeff came free, but Moisés da Silveira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Joseph Desjardin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Moisés da Silveira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edmond Kubiak in the 90th minute of the match. In the 92nd minute, Guillaume Minier left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Avel Vat fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 7-0. Guillaume Minier fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Moisés da Silveira having to interfere.
