A collision led to Balus Treter getting a freekick after 9 minutes play. Lukas Wagner hit a great ball. Matthias Merk stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Billy Waller's shot from short distance in the 10th minute. The audience was convinced that Billy Waller's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Matthias Merk was relentless in the 11th minute of the game. After a rather tough play, Balus Treter's Niko Töpfer got a free kick in the 12th minute. Balus Treter's Matthias Merk proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 15th minute of the match, managed to save Balus Treter from getting a goal against them. The supporters of Balus Treter booed when Fire Devils was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Stefan Bircher didn't get a good kick on the ball. René Lazarus might have been able to make a better finish in the 25th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Vladimir Schnyder. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. René Lazarus ran back to his position shaking his head. René Lazarus took the ball and in the 25 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Vladimir Schnyder. Vladimir Schnyder dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. 34 minutes into the game, Fire Devils's Thaddäus Striner nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Matthias Merk made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. Alois Ritschel hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. René Lazarus was the one to do the kick off. The supporters of Fire Devils booed when Balus Treter was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ekpenyong Vogler didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ekpenyong Vogler's late challenge caught a Fire Devils's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ekpenyong Vogler helped the player get up and apologised. After having played for 61 minutes, René Lazarus managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Balus Treter's supporters crossed their fingers, but René Lazarus was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Billy Waller fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Matthias Merk having to interfere. Vladimir Schnyder showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from René Lazarus, who was totally free with the ball in the 73rd minute. Fire Devils's defense didn't have a chance, in the 75th minute, when René Lazarus scored to the left of an out of position Vladimir Schnyder, making the score, 1-4. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Niko Töpfer during the 78th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Niko Töpfer kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match. In the 79th minute of the match Stefan Bircher shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Matthias Merk showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. René Lazarus hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Balus Treter's zone, Billy Waller stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Matthias Merk came out of the goal and Billy Waller tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Fire Devils's Martial Schwersenz got a free kick in the 88th minute. Matthias Merk showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Billy Waller in the 95th minute of the match. The Fire Devils manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Balus Treter to win.
