Pieter Boekholt showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Irinel Vărzaru, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. 28 minutes into the game, Balavanis's Mugurel Apostolescu nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Pieter Boekholt made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. In the 30th minute Gigi Văcăroiu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pieter Boekholt saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 31st minute, Petruț Mironescu ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Pieter Boekholt was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-4. In the 48thth minute of the game Mugurel Apostolescu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but SCs StarS's Pieter Boekholt was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Disappointed in the 0-5 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Foeke Waterreus to strike the kick off in the second half. Balavanis's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gigi Văcăroiu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Pieter Boekholt didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Irinel Vărzaru went, in the 91st minute, to the upper right corner, 0-12 was the resulting score. The supporters of SCs StarS booed when Balavanis was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Codrin Tilea didn't get a good kick on the ball.
