The audience thought a goal was coming when Yaya Sow got free with Régis de Queirós in the 10th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Palmeiras's Régis de Queirós proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 11th minute of the match, managed to save Palmeiras from getting a goal against them. In the 17th minute of the match, Wanderson Melo tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Régis de Queirós saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. São Paulo F.C.'s Tiago Godoi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Iustin Bungeanu in the 18th minute of play. The Palmeiras fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Dirk Snabl in the 34thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dirk Snabl in the 60th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Régis de Queirós prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The referee felt a red card was in order, 63 minutes into the game, when Wanderson Melo put in a rough tackle. São Paulo F.C. made a substitution. Ronaldo Crispín replaced Dirk Snabl. After 63 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for São Paulo F.C.! When the match had been going on for 67 minutes, Palmeiras's Iustin Bungeanu got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Tiago Godoi. After 101 played minutes Palmeiras got a freekick which was hit by Roderick Oosterhof. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Palmeiras walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
