Liu Yong Yong came out of the goal and Miguel Merentiel tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Frontera AFC booed when OROTINENSE was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Claudio Leiton didn't get a good kick on the ball. Liu Yong Yong acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 48th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Edison Cavani.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Edison Cavani stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 54 minutes into the match, Frontera AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Songurhan Mete came free, but Chiquinho Romero reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Jacek Walczak's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Chiquinho Romero was relentless in the 55th minute of the game. 57 minutes into the game, Alfonso Rulli was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Iordache Opincaru could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 87th minute of the match, but Chiquinho Romero made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Miguel Merentiel in the 93rd minute of play forced OROTINENSE's goalkeeper Liu Yong Yong to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Liu Yong Yong showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alberto Márcico, who was totally free with the ball in the 94th minute. For all the effort they put into the match, the OROTINENSE players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Frontera AFC.
